Winter Clubs 2017-2018  Wednesdays

Wednesday clubs this Winter will begin on November 29th, and run eight Wednesdays. There are no meetings on December 20th or January 24th, which are noon dismissal days at Evergreen, or during Winter break. After the closure on Jan 17th, the final day will now be Feb 14th*.

Sing and Sign will perform at 4:45 on 2/14! All are invited!

*Lights! Camera! Action! will run until Feb 21, and have a performance that afternoon at 5:00.

Sing and Sign

3:45-4:45 grade range: K-3

Join Kay and Tonya for a fun hour of singing favorite Evergreen songs and learning ASL signs to go with them!  We’ll be focusing on well-loved Evergreen morning song circle music, and American Sign Language to accompany them.  Do you wish Friday song circle lasted longer - then this club is for you!  American Sign Language is the language of Deaf Americans, and it’s a lot of fun to learn this special language that allows communication through your hands and eyes.

Instructors: Kay Cole, Evergreen EC Associate, and Tonya Jones, Evergreen Music Teacher

Glorious Group Games

3:45-4:45, grade range: 3-5

Mr. Kevin's Glorious Group Games will get kids up and moving with group games like GaGa, Four Square, Hockey, Sprout Ball, Capture the Flag, and more.  This club will build athletic skills, sportsmanship, team cooperation through friendly competition.  Each day begins with warm-up stretches and ends with a compliments circle.  Bring your running shoes and a positive attitude!

Instructor: Kevin Thompson, Evergreen 3rd Grade Associate

Lights! Camera! Action!

3:45-5:15, grade range: 3-8

Whether you're a seasoned actor, just a ham, or always dreamed of acting on the big stage, here's your chance to gain acting, as well as personal/life skills and have a lot of fun while doing it! We'll delve into improvisation, with plenty of acting games both old and new, and also work on memorization, pantomime, script writing, character development and more!  This club will last 9 weeks rather than the customary 8, allowing for a performance on February 14th at 5PM.

Instructor: Pam Hecht, EverAfter Associate

Finkletones: Beginner's Guitar

3:45-4:45, grade range: 4-8

Each Wednesday, we welcome Josh Finkler of the Finkletones. Lessons in technique, tuning, the names of strings, melody, chords, strumming, a dash of music theory and likely some other guitar tricks! If you have your own guitar, great! If you need to borrow one, there will be several (three) available in class.

Instructor: Josh Finkler, Owner and Founder of Finkletones School of Music.

Learn to Belay

3:45-5:15, grade range: 4-8

*This Adventure Team club has a cost of $160 for ECCS students, $180 for others.

Like climbing the walls? Like Ropes Courses? Wanna get belay certified? Wanna get ropes course guide certified? This course will provide the opportunity to get on the ropes course and do plenty of climbing on our climbing wall.  Along with that, participants have the opportunity to get belay certified and Ropes Course Guide certified. You do not need to have any prior climbing or ropes course experience for this club. We will start at the very beginning (a very good place to start) and work up to more advanced skills. By the end of 8 weeks a student can independently manage fitting gear, anchoring, and belaying another person with confidence.

This club is open to 4-8 grade students that are willing to listen, learn, and apply climbing and ropes course skills. Limit is 12 students.

Instructors: Doug White, Evergreen Adventure Coordinator, and Michael Kligerman, Evergreen Adventure Associate

Wolftracks Yearbook Crew

3:30-4:30, grade range: 5-8

Be part of this year's yearbook team, from the planning phase all the way to passing them out, with planning, photography and designing. In the end, there will be a product that your friends will love and you can keep forever! Participants get a free yearbook.
