Weekly note:

Hi parents,

We're still hoping to make our Ofrenda to put on display at the EverAfter desk, but so far we've only been given one picture! I really wish I cold find a picture of the one we made two years ago, it was a very moving yet temporary artifact. You can read more through that link, but the basic idea is that an Ofrenda is a type of memorial for friends and family members that have passed away recently. Remember, we can include pets!

Also, we did not meeting out minimums for signups and staffing for Veteran's Day on November 11th, and will thusly be closed. We will still be open for all day care on November 10th's teacher workday, and with regular pickups from Oakley, Bell and Haw Creek.

Moving on, for Friday this week you need to be aware of the following:

  • Buncombe County Schools is on early release but Evergreen isn't, so we will not be picking our friends up from Oakley, Bell, and Haw Creek (parents: you don't need to tell me they aren't coming--I know!)

  • Evergreen's annual Halloween Parade will take place on the field at 2PM, and all are invited!

  • Yes, your child (or you!) can attend EverAfter and/or the parade in a costume, but remember our policy of "no blood, no gore, no weapons of war." And, also, avoid cultural appropriation in costumes (and, you know, always). Here's a good infomentary on that.

  • EverAfter will be open until 6, but, it's a very lightly-attended day in the first place, and kids still around after 5:00 will be suffering a very intense case of FOMO.
