Yoga

2:15-3:15, grade range: K-3

Yoga is a wonderful way to open your child to the awareness of their place in the world. Each class will focus on a lesson or theme and will include creative yoga flow, breath work, games, stories, music, partner/group activities, visualization and relaxation. Through yoga, your child will develop strength, flexibility, self-confidence, balance, coordination, focus and discover the ability to feel calm.

Spanish Explorers

Paddles of Fury

3:30-4:30 grade range: 3-8

Join Evergreen’s official Ping-Pong team and enjoy fast-paced table tennis action!  This sport has been described as a mixture between martial arts and chess.  It’s furious and fun, but also involves loads of skill.  From serving to top-spin, we’ll learn about the sport, hone our skills and then challenge other kids and even the Evergreen staff to a ping-pong battle of epic proportions!  Led by Fynn, a true ping-pong aficionado, this club promises to be silly and serious, as we test our ping-pong prowess.  8 weeks of non-stop action starts Monday, November 27th!

Instructor: Fynn Crooks, Evergreen PAL Coordinator

EL Trail Conservation Corps

4:00-5:30 grade range: 5-8

Do you enjoy spending time in the woods? Do you like learning to use new tools? Have you ever imagined one day working for the Forest or Park Service? Have you ever been hiking or biking along and wondered to yourself, "Where do trails come from?" Join Laura and Holley, your resident AmeriCorps members, with the EL Trail Conservation Corps, a winter club in which we'll learn to re-route water to prevent erosion, creatively shape trails into pleasant hiking surfaces, safely use maintenance tools, responsibly trim trees and shrubs... and more!

Due to the service nature of this club, it has a special cost of $110, which is equal to the EverAfter daily care rate over the 8 sessions. Students participating in this club also can earn service hours.

Instructors: Laura Marksetin and Holley Roberts, AmeriCorps Members

Adventure Team: Ski and Snowboard Club

1:00-6:00, grade range: 3-8

*This Adventure Team club has a tentative cost of $250, which includes Cataloochee season pass that can be used beyond club times.

That's right, after a one year hiatus and under the tutelage of new Adventure Coordinator Doug, we are bringing back Ski and Snowboard as a club. The club won’t actually begin until January (need to wait for the snow!), but we are listing this with the rest of EverAfter Winter Clubs as a space-saver. We will hold a separate sign-up process for this club later in November. Coming soon, there will also be a full page devoted to Ski and Snowboard Club details, and possibly an informational/interest meeting.

Slope Chief: Doug White, Evergreen Adventure Coordinator

Adventure Team: Advanced Climbing

4:00-5:30, grade range: 4-8

*This Adventure Team club has a cost of $200 for ECCS students, $220 for others.

Feel like learning more about climbing technique, setting routes, knots, & different gear? Then this is the club for you! We will learn by practicing new skills, reading knotwork & rock guidebooks as well as watching both each other climb & short films of world class climbers. We also plan on going to Climbmax Climbing Gym once or twice to experience other climbing options in the area.

Though helpful, being Belay Certified is not a requirement. Advanced Climbing is for students who have experience climbing and want to get to the next level!

Instructors: Michael Kligerman and Emily Boykin, Evergreen Adventure Associates

Can't decide? Due to Evergreen's earlier Monday dismissal time, club times have been staggered to allow Evergreen students to choose between the following double options:

  • Spanish and Yoga

  • Swordplay and Paddles of Fury

  • Swordplay and EL Trail Conservation Corps

  • Swordplay and Advanced Climbing

Double options cost $165 (plus $25 if one is Swordplay, $60 if one is Advanced Climbing)
