Weekly note:
Hi parents,
A couple of important items this week:
One, please be aware and plan ahead for Thursday, May 15th. We have to close by 5:00 that afternoon to make way for Evergreen's Annual Meeting. This is a very important part of Evergreen's non-profit, board-run model, and as such it needs a focused campus--and an otherwise-unoccupied gym. Also, it's required that all staff attend this meeting, so there will not be anyone left to watch your kids! Also, as a stakeholder in the Evergreen community, you are also invited to this meeting.
Next, Climbing Club. We had some delays in securing enough staff, but we have it worked out and are starting the first session (which is full) this Friday. But, we will run a second session in a couple of weeks, and you can sign up for that in SchoolBucks now. It'll be May 16, 23 and 30, and there about 15 spots left as of the writing of this newsletter.
Lastly, I've been using this last paragraph recently to address some notable kid behaviors that we've been working on lately. This week it's rough play. I'd say our staff has been dealing with a more-than-normal amount of that lately. Whether it's pushing instead of tagging, unsolicited hugging or grabbing, or misplaced martial arts practice, there's just been a lot of it going on. You can help at home by asking your child if they've been reminded by their teachers about any of these things. A simple "hey do any of the other kids play too rough?" can get the conversation going.
Thanks!
- James
