Weekly note:
Hi parents,
Four weeks into school and it's like summer never happened! I trust your kids are all excited to come to school every morning, you're never late, and everyone gets to bed at a reasonable time every night.
Meanwhile, over here in reality, we're preparing for a couple of upcoming things. We have a couple of Fall clubs to offer, starting in a few weeks with enrollment in SchoolBucks Activities starting tomorrow. More on that below. Also by tomorrow, we will have a signup form for this year's All Day Care days ready. We will post that link in SchoolBucks as well--not in Activities but in SchoolBucks proper, on the links sections (the one with the purple MSB Activities icon). Reminder that you can always reference our MSB 101 guide for help navigating those things.
Okay now for the clubs! Starting the week of September 22nd, we will be starting Lego and Chess clubs on Wednesdays. Then a little later in October, we will start both a Dance club (Thursdays) and Climbing Wall club (Fridays). The Lego club will be for kids 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade. Chess will be 1st grade an older. Dance club will be 4th and 5th grades, and Climbing wall is all ages. (This page will be updated with links to dates and descriptions for each club on Sept 15)
UPDATE 9/16: Sorry we've been busy watching your kids! We have the enrollments for Chess, Legos and Dance posted in MSB Activities. We're still working on Climbing as well as the club info pages for the website.
Speaking of club costs, there is a change in how we are structuring that this year. In the past, we have charged a lump sum club fee that replaces the daily rate on club days. However, we learned last year that SchoolBucks really isn't set up to handle that from a billing standpoint. So, this year we are going to try charging a much smaller club fee, while also still charging the regular daily fee. Please keep this in mind as you decide how to budget your child's club enrollments.
For next week, be on the lookout for more information on drop-in care and all day care on September 25 and 26, which are Evergreen's Fall conference days.
Lastly, I want to reiterate the apologies to those of you were affected by the billing mishap in SchoolBucks that saw many second and third kids not have their fee invoices post when they were supposed to. While we do like many of the aspects of SchoolBucks as it compares to other enrollment and billing platforms, this is one of those instances where it's obvious that their 1s and 0s people are neither school employees NOR working parents!

Upcoming dates of note:
-
September 26 - Evergreen Conference Day - No school, all day care available, regular pickups from Haw Creek, Bell and Oakley
-
October 3-7 - Evergreen Fall Break - No school, all day care available, regular pickups from Haw Creek, Bell and Oakley

FAQ of the Week
If I know my PIN number for pickup, do I need my placard?
-
In short, yes! Your placard identifies you as a parent, so having it hand is part of the safety plan. It also helps Christine, or whomever is at the attendance table when you arrive, to more quickly call your child for check out.
